Weathering Winter: YMCA’s School-Age Child Care Snow Policy View our Snow Policy

As we head into the winter season we want to take a moment to cover the YMCA’s Snow Policy with you. This comprehensive policy addresses various scenarios to keep you informed and prepared. In case of closures or delays, stay updated through:

Delayed Start:

• If Kennewick School District is delayed, the YMCA will open sites by 7:00am to allow staff and families to arrive safely at their sites. We will provide care at your regular site until the start of school.

School Cancellation – Before Program Opens (Announced before 7:00 am):

• We consolidate Child Care sites. See the list below as to where your child’s school attends.
• With cancellations due to weather, sites are open from 7am-6pm, weather permitting. Staff will plan to open consolidated sites by 7am.

School Cancellation – After Program Opens (Announced after 7:00 am):

• If the Kennewick School District announces a closure after children are already at their YMCA Child Care site or during the school day, the YMCA will consolidate sites.
• You will need to pick your child up for the day or transport your child to their consolidated site. We are unable to transport your children for you.
• Please make sure all emergency numbers are current with your Site Coordinator, as well as the YMCA office, in case we need to inform you of a site change.

REMINDER: Pack a Sack Lunch and bottled Water. In anticipation of school closures, please pack a sack lunch and bottled water for your child.
